Biology: The Fun Side

Did you know the nails on your longer fingers will grow faster than the nails on your shorter fingers? And did you know that the nails on your hands grow four times faster than the nails on your toes? Its little interesting facts like these that get me so excited about biology. Everything in our body is put there for a reason. Everything has its very own function.

Another interesting fact you probably won’t believe is that humans share 60% of DNA with a banana. No, it doesn’t mean that we have any resemblance to a banana. It just means that production of proteins, enzymes for creating or breaking down sugars, building cellular structures and processes, etc. are similar to ours.

 

I wish more people found biology as interesting as I do. Biology has come a long way. People have discovered a lot over the years about the living organisms in the world. But it is so much more out there waiting to be discovered. My granny always tells me how much of a science freak I am.

My purpose for this post was to share some interesting things about biology. I wanted people to understand that its not so boring. Its not as bad as you really think it is. Like the things I find out just blow my mind. I’m not trying to sound like a geek (lol) but if you really gave it a try, I think you would love it
